2012, Da One for me

Posted by DJ • December 31, 2011 at 02:38 PM

One of the strongest cuts from Rihanna’s latest album has got its own video now. You Da One has sort of a digital reggae skank to it and a kooky chorus, and we hope to hear it at New Year’s Eve parties tonight…

Happy New Year iMesh friends!

Crash test dummies

Africa Hitech are Steve Spacek & Mark Pritchard, two English musicians who relocated to Australia a few years ago (wow, that’s 3 continents in one sentence!). Their latest album, 93 Million Miles is one of the best bass heavy electronic albums of the year so far, and the lead single off it has just got a brand spanking new video. Malfunctioning robots, crashing cars and urban chaos are all magically co-existing in this great piece of audio visual goodness..

By the way, the main sample here is probably familiar to you from Damian Marley’s huge hit from a couple of years back, Welcome to Jamrock, but the original vocal cut (Out in the streets, they call it murder..) is from World-A-Music by Ini Kamoze, which was released back in 1984.

She’s irreplacable

Oh yes, the queen is back. With all due respect to the Gagas, Rihannas and Britneys, there is only one Beyonce. The former child of destiny is gearing up towards a new album and returns with a new single, Run the World (Girls). Hear it right here and let us know what you think.

The new song is actually based on Pon Di Floor, the big dancehall tune by Major Lazer – the UK producer Switch and  his US associate, globe trotting DJ Diplo.

Check out the original, and the far out video too (Sorry, embedding of this video was disabled)
