Thanksgiving is an opportunity to take an optimistic look at our lives. Take a break from all the stresses of day to day life and reflect on all of the positive things you have. It is also a good chance to say thank you to the people who you care for.

On that note, here are some songs to get you into the Thanksgiving spirit:

Bon Jovi – Thank You For Loving Me

This classic Bon Jovi ballad is off their album Crush released  in 2000.

Kelly Clarkson – Thankful

“Thankful” was the title track from Kelly’s 2003 album.

The AMA Performances You Missed

The American Music Awards were on last night and they had some interesting performances. In case you missed them, here is what went on.

Miley Cyrus has gone from controversial to just plain confusing. She performed her smash hit ‘Wrecking Ball” wearing a cat print, two piece, high cut, leotard ensemble. I am pretty sure her jewelry covered more than her outfit, but we are used to that. She performed next to a screen displaying an enormous and adorable kitten. I am not sure what all this means, let me know if you have figured it out.

For the first controversial performance of the night Lady Gaga and R. Kelly, performed “Do What You Want”. The two acted out a scene when Kelly played the president and Gaga played his secretary looking like Marilyn Monroe. Not everyone thought that their performance was in good taste, but both Gaga and Kelly are no strangers to controversy.

Happy Birthday Miley! Miley Cyrus turns 21 today.

Does this mean that this year Miley will be viewed as an adult? Many people have had trouble trying to see the former squeaky clean childhood star as an adult. Recently, Miley has been spending her time turning heads with her behavior and barely there fashion choices.

From her drastic haircut, to her out-there performance at the VMA’s, swinging naked from a wrecking ball for her video, to having a joint on stage, Miley seems to be enjoying the controversy this year. Most recently Miley decided to bleach her eyebrows blonde. Here she is sporting the look with Miranda Kerr.

Who knows what the next year will hold for Miley? We do know she will be performing at the American Music Awards this this weekend, hopefully she gives herself some time to celebrate her birthday.

If you can’t get enough of Miley, here is a video of her recently covering Lana Del Ray’s “Summertime Sadness”

Will you be checking out Miley’s performance at the AMA’s?

Avril Lavigne is releasing her new album. It is her fifth studio album to date. She wrote the majority of songs on the album with her husband and fellow Canadian rocker, Chad Kroeger of Nickleback. He is also featured on the album’s most recent single “Let Me Go”. Check out the video below:

Kroeger is not the only collaborator on the album. It also features a track with Marilyn Manson, called “Bad Girl”.

Lavigne said that this album would be more pop and fun than her last album. The album’s first single was released back in April, the song  “Here’s to Never Growing Up” went platinum in the U.S.

While many artists try to reinvent themselves as time goes on, especially artists that started their musically careers at such a young age, Avril Lavigne, who signed her first record deal at 16, has stayed true to her pop-punk style.

The Best Mashups

Posted by Nadine Segal • October 14, 2013 at 01:24 PM

Female DJ

Some mashups work so perfectly, they sound like an original song. Mashups have become popular enough that some artists work exclusively on mashups. Television shows like Glee and movies like Pitch Perfect prominently feature mashups on their soundtracks. JayZ and Linkin Park even made a album dedicated to their mashups. Not all mashups are created equal. Here are some of the best mashups out there right now.

“Little Wrecking Ball” is a Mashup by Isosine, of Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball” and Mumford & Sons’ “Little Lion Man”. The songs blend together perfectly and the dancers in the video are phenomenal.  The video does not include Miley swinging naked from a wrecking ball, which some may view as a plus and others as a minus.
